Mercury Tool & Machine, Inc. has been working with customer Vendor Supplier Portals within their MRP’s for years. Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is a production planning, scheduling, and inventory control system used to manage manufacturing processes. Most MRP systems are software-based, while it is possible to conduct MRP by hand as well.
Some common software MRP’s are KANBAN, SAP, WorkWise ERP and FISHBOWL. Our larger manufacturing customers usually utilize one of these systems to
- Ensure the availability of materials, components, and products for planned production and for
customer delivery - Maintain the lowest possible level of inventory
- Plan manufacturing activities, delivery schedules, and purchasing activities.
The three major inputs of an MRP system are the master production schedule, the product
structure records, and the inventory status records. Without these basic inputs the MRP system
cannot function.
Mercury Tool stays informed with our customer’s needs by monitoring their MRP software Supplier Portal for the parts in our supply chain. We can anticipate upcoming material and production needs by watching their inventory and monthly usage; and by communicating on a personal level with the buyers at each company to facilitate timely and on schedule delivery.
We take pride in our staff who form personal communicative relations with the purchasing agents within both the customer and vendor chain. Our personal relationships can often facilitate more advantageous supply and fulfillment options.
Not every machining production facility can finesse the on-going demands of large manufacturing customers, but Mercury Tool & Machine, Inc. has been doing it for over 67 years!
We are comfortable dealing with Report Cards, using measurements assessing our on time deliveries, quality performance and quantity reliability.
